How can you avoid your furniture being scratched or nicked during moving? Furniture padding is the answer. Ask any professional moving company. These heavy blankets protect and cover furniture during a move. Furniture padding protects furniture from damage and prevents them from getting dirty during transit. Furniture padding is a friend to all movers. Continue reading to learn more about furniture padding and why it is important for moving.
What is furniture moving pads?

Moving blankets are also known as furniture padding. They are thick covers that protect large items during moving. Professional movers will wrap fragile furniture pieces with furniture padding to protect them from damage during the move. They also protect the items from damage and prevent them shifting during transit. Furniture padding is typically shaped like a blanket, and can look similar to a thick, cushioned quilt. Furniture pads are held in place by straps or tape by movers.

Furniture padding is a must when you move.

It protects floors from scratches and keeps them safe

Furniture padding is an automatic way to protect your floors. Large furniture, such as heavy consoles and dressers, can be difficult to transport, so accidents are inevitable. You could damage your floors if you accidentally drop or slide furniture items across the floor. Furniture pads add an extra layer between the item’s floor and it.

It cleans your furniture.

Your belongings will accumulate dirt, dust, and other grime when you move to a new house. Your belongings could get damaged or dirty if it rains or snows. Wrapping furniture in moving blankets prevents them from becoming dirty and dusty. It also prevents water damage, and increases your chances of items arriving safely at their new homes.

It protects your walls

Protect your floors by covering furniture with moving blankets or pads. Why? It’s easy to sideswipe walls when you’re moving furniture down stairs or out the front door. This will lead to a sloppy wall and chipped paint. The pads for moving furniture are soft and cushioned so that even if you hit the wall while moving it, it won’t cause any damage.

It stops furniture moving during transit

Padded covers are a great way to prevent your furniture from moving during transit. Items can shift when they are loaded onto a moving truck and bump into each other. Moving pads stop this from happening. They prevent furniture damage by acting as a buffer between boxes and items.

It makes it easy to transport heavy items.

It is also easier to move heavy furniture in and out of a house with furniture pads. Although lifting large furniture or using a dolly are the best methods, sometimes it is easier to just slide the item across a floor. This is especially true for heavy or oversized items. You can maneuver furniture items across your home by placing a moving pad under them.

It stops furniture legs from breaking.

Furniture legs can be very fragile. You can easily break or damage a leg by dropping a couch or chair on the ground. It’s much less likely that your furniture legs will fall off if it is covered in moving pads. Furniture pads offer extra cushioning to protect both the furniture’s body and the legs.

There are other ways furniture can be protected during a move

Furniture pads are not the only way to protect furniture when it moves. You can also provide financial and physical protection for your furniture by using these other methods:

If you are hiring professional movers, consider purchasing valuation coverage or moving insurance.
Wrap furniture in stretch wrap.
Use felt pads underneath furniture legs.
When moving heavy furniture, it is important to always ask for help.
You can rent dollies at your local Home Depot.
Use tie-downs at the back of your truck rental.
When dragging furniture across the floor, place cardboard or towels under it.
When moving furniture into and out of your home, make sure that the doors are open and clear.
To make it easier to move furniture around, disassemble it.
