While the name might cause people to believe it is one kind of physical silver, in reality, it’s very different from a standard coin or bar of silver. If tiny particles of silver are suspended within liquid, the result is called colloidal silver. The size of the particles is so small that they are unable to be separated from the liquid with conventional laboratory filtration processes. A large portion of them are not visible by the eye of the average person, and may be classified as nanoparticles. Silver colloidal has gained a lot of attention as a treatment alternative for a myriad of human ailments throughout the years.

The use of colloidal silver in medical

Colloidal silver can be utilized to combat infections with viruses that antibiotics can’t treat like pneumonia or bronchitis. It can help those suffering from allergies to airborne particles when applied as nasal spray. It is typically employed as an anti-inflammatory and antiviral. In fact, it is aiding in the fight against HIV and hepatitis virus. The antibacterial properties help fight superbugs that are resistant to antibiotics.

Colloidal Silver can be taken in a pill or chewed as a supplement to your diet. Additionally, it could apply to skin. This remedy has been in use for hundreds of years, long before introduction of antibiotics. Certain medical doctors and researchers believe that colloidal silver is just a placebo that doesn’t work in treating any disease.

However the studies that have been done, suggests that colloidal silver could connect to proteins found on cells of bacteria. This can cause destruction of the cell membrane of bacteria, allowing silver ions into the cell, destabilizing the metabolic processes of bacteria and eventually destroy it. Silver ions are released by suspensions that contain more small particles.

Where can colloidal silver be employed?

Because of its capacity to eliminate a range of bacteria the colloidal silver was an antibacterial treatment popular long before the invention the use of antibiotics within western medical practices. It is now used in a variety of medicinal products, including creams and dressings for wounds. There are however certain risks that come with the consumption by colloidal silver. Because of this, pharmaceutical companies don’t include colloidal silver as a component in oral medication.

What are the potential risks associated with eating silver colloidal?

Human beings are generally exposed to tiny quantities of silver each day via drinking water as well as the surrounding environment. However, exposure to constant silver is harmful for human health. Medical researchers have determined that the main danger that comes from frequent exposure to silver colloidal is a condition called Argyria. The silver particles in colloidal silver could build up inside our vital organs and on our skin. The deposits could alter the color of our skin to a dark blue hue. The condition is typically caused due to people who are often exposed to large quantities of silver, whether through their work or intake of certain nutritional supplements. Therefore, colloidal silver has to be handled with care for any external use.
