A trip to Africa can be a wonderful opportunity to witness things other people haven’t seen before in their lives, even those who are experienced travellers.

Africa is a huge continent in every sense and we have some amazing countries for you to choose from to make your choice in Africa.

Traveling around the world is among the most rewarding experiences that one can enjoy. Being in, working, and being in another country and culture, offers a perspective unmatched by any other experience.

Typically a placement runs Monday through Friday (however if you want to work on weekends, that’s certainly something we’re able to arrange for you). In addition, outside of your placement, you’ll have plenty of time in the evenings and weekends to visit your destination of choice.

How do you decide which country to select as your destination for your vacation in Africa? Be familiar with the typical African programs…

Ghana

Ghana can be found on West Africa along the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean. Certain Africa medical elective are located within the town of Takoradi located about a 4 hour drive along the coast from the capital city of Accra. If you’ve not been to Africa before, Ghana is perfect for that first visit. Outside of placement, take advantage of the stunning coastline, lush jungles, and vibrant Ghanaian tradition.

Most frequent student trips:

Kakum National Park – Trek through the forest canopy, observe wildlife from treetops and if you’re brave enough you could spend the night in the treehouse

Cape Coast Castle – Take a guided tour through the slave forts of the 17th century and discover details about the underwhelming, but fascinating history of the slave trade.

Mole National Park – Located further north, from here you can go on safari to look for the lions, elephants and baboons as well as babo

The Gold Coast – Sun-soaked sandy shores, beach resorts are all over the place with Axim Beach being a favourite for our students.

Tanzania

Tanzania is an East African country on the Indian Ocean. Dar es Salaam is where our Tanzanian program is located; a cosmopolitan bustling city and the ideal starting point to explore the country. Outside of placement you’ll be overwhelmed with the variety of once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences. From picture postcard white-sand beaches as well as some of the amazing safari parks anywhere in the world.

The most popular trips for students:

Zanzibar – Just an hour away from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar’s breathtaking beaches and crystal-clear waters are a mecca for backpackers, divers, and night-clubbers.

Safari The Safari Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Mikumi What a variety! All members of the Big Five’ are available in these park and reserve. You’ll also have the chance to see huge herds wildebeest moving across its plains during the annual migration

Mount Kilimanjaro – The highest mountain in Africa. A trek that is guided to the summit can take approximately 4-7 days. If you’re able to incorporate this into the beginning or the end of your trip this is an adventure worth a visit.

Our elective Consultants can guide you through the programs we offer in more detail.
