Debanjali Kamstra, who was born in India, has continuously waved the UAE flag, demonstrating her passion and commitment to the place she now calls home. She has flown throughout the world with Emirates as cabin crew and has represented the UAE on an international scale.
Debanjali appeared on The Lovin Dubai Show, one the leading social media channels in the UAE shortly after winning Mrs. Earth 2023 in Manila to describe her experiences. She spoke about her victory during the interview, reflecting on how her earlier accomplishment as the second runner-up in MRS World 2021 had motivated her.
Given that her victory coincides with the year that the UAE will host COP 28, Debanjali emphasised the importance of representing the UAE in the upcoming year.
Debanjali wants to draw attention to the fact that “beauty pageants” are no longer held as just a fashion show and how these events allow women the platform to make a difference for worthy causes.
The competitor was the first ever to represent the UAE at Mrs. Earth.
Despite not being an Emirati by birth, Debanjali recognised that her status as a representative of the UAE has drawn some criticism. Her response is a lovely tribute to the numerous residents of the UAE who don’t have official passports.
I did not win in MRS World, but I’m so grateful for them even considering me. I was the first woman in history to represent the UAE internationally, and I receive a lot of comments that I’m not Emirati and questioning how I represent the UAE. However, I believe that to fall in love with this nation, you don’t need a passport. You can fall in love anytime. This country has given me everything.”
With so many UK residents residing in the Emirates and seeing the passion Debanjali brings to the table, we can understand why the UAE is one of best places to live globally.
