Is it worth hiring a wedding videographer? I was redirected to a post from a bride-to be in a Facebook group for wedding planners. The post was about videographers, and why she believed a videographer was essential for couples planning their big day. Many brides and videographers liked and commented on her post, with hundreds of likes. There were many comments from those who disagreed with her and felt that videographers charged too much for their services. I was inspired by her post to create this blog post: Here are five reasons every couple should hire a videographer for their wedding day…
1) A wedding film is an investment
Many people view their videographer or photographer as “necessary evils” – they are expenses that must be covered in order to have something to remember their day. Personally, I think this is a wrong perspective. Don’t view your videographer or photographer as a cost, but as an investment in your memories.
What price can you pay for your memories?
2) How can you trust a videographer who doesn’t value their work?
Videographers are expensive! Why would I spend all that money to make a 6-minute film? !’
Cameras, lenses, tripods, and stabilizers cost thousands of pounds. A thousand pounds includes insurance, travel, and drone license fees. 12 hours of filming, carrying around cameras and tripods, backup equipment until the early hours of the morning to ensure your memories are safe. 30 hours of editing, a USB stick for your film, and delivery costs. Emails, calls, meetings. Taxes are another thing. We work hard every day. We put our hearts and souls into creating a unique Wedding Film that will last a lifetime and allow you to relive your special day every time. We wouldn’t put the time and effort into making your film perfect if we didn’t take time to learn and value our talents.
3) Look for the parts that you have missed
It’s a blurry world when it comes to weddings. You’re probably not familiar with this process so I’m going to let you know that most couples are amazed at how fast their wedding day went. It seems like months, sometimes even years of planning have flown by so quickly. A Northern Irish wedding videographer will capture every moment of your day. We will try our best to get the right shots, whether your father is blubbering in his pocket as you say your vows or your uncle Steve dancing on the dance floor.
4) Your only souvenirs
When the cake is gone and the champagne bottles have been empty, and the band has gone home and gone, you are left with photos and videos. How will your grandkids know that you aren’t always as wrinkled? How else can you remind your grandkids of how much you love each other when you’re going through difficult times? How will your children respond to your question about your wedding? You may have your wedding dress in the loft but that doesn’t mean you will be able to put it on once you are seventy. Isn’t this enough to justify the cost of hiring a videographer for your wedding?
5) But, we already have a photographer… surely don’t we need both? !
Both video and photos have been mentioned in this post. I believe both are vital to a wedding. However, some people feel videographers should charge less than photographers. I am not surprised by this opinion. Videographers can be there for as long as photographers. We also have more editing work to do to create your Wedding Film. Maybe we should charge more than your photographer. A Wedding Film can be even more important than photos. While photos will capture your best moments, a film will let you relive them.
What do you think? Is a wedding videographer worthwhile? Perhaps I have convinced you that you want one. Or maybe I have completely scared you away. No matter what you do, don’t let the best souvenirs from your most joyful day be the one that disappoints.
