This art goes back to around fifty BC when Syrian craftsmen developed the process. The popularity of the technique grew with advent in the Roman Empire, taking it across Europe and eventually to regions of Asia and the Middle East. The beauty and usefulness of blown glass became well-known and sought after throughout the globe.

The first glass that was made within North America was produced in Puebla, Mexico around 1535 by craftsmen from Spain. Glass made by hand was introduced to the Guadalajara region in 1820.
