A restaurant once home to a once legendary city boozer which won the title of Birmingham Pub of the Year three times in a row is up for sale again, just two years after being transformed into the eatery and banqueting hall. The Inn on the Green – famed Acocks Green boozer and winner of prestigious CAMRA gong – was taken over by a banqueting hall and events venue in 2021.
The venue was renamed and became Burraq restaurant, an Asian restaurant and banqueting hall, which netted hundreds of four and five star Google reviews in its brief tenure. When the current owners bought the Inn on the Green, “no expense was spared” and it was completely re-fitted with gold fittings from Marrakesh, crushed velvet seating and a bold black and gold theme.
The interior is completely different from what punters knew as a traditional public house, but the property is now on the market again with estate agents Veritas, who boast the business has a “strong reputation within the local community and beyond and as such has a high level of regular and repeat trade.” The restaurant is listed on Zoopla at £249,950.

Veritas said on their Zoopla ad: “Veritas Business sales are delighted to offer to the market this Leasehold Restaurant which is located in Acocks Green. The premises has traded as a Public House for many years and was transformed into what you see today back in 2021. They are now offering the restaurant for sale due to other business commitments requiring their attention.
“Since ownership there has been no expense spared and they have undertaken total refurbishment, redecorated and invested in new equipment along with high-end fixtures and fittings (purchased from Marrakesh) which are all bought and paid for and included within the sale price which is a huge plus for a new owner as additional funds will not need to be spent for some time.
“Burraq offers an a’ la carte menu Monday – Thursday and Buffet Friday – Sunday. Weekly turnover is circa £12,000 on short trading hours. We are selling a fully fitted restaurant not the operating business so no accounting information will be provided.”
As part of the price, new owners would get the leasehold restaurant and banqueting hall, which Veritas say is “fitted to a very high spec.” The restaurant seats 130 people and banqueting hall 300, although that is unfinished so needs some work.
Veritas added that trade could be boosted by the new owners joining delivery platforms like Deliveroo and UberEats. Agents added: “The business already enjoys a strong reputation within the local community and beyond and as such has a high level of regular and repeat trade. This is a superb opportunity to purchase a very well-fitted restaurant with further potential which is a great base to build upon and as such early viewing is highly recommended.”
