The Chase’s Jenny Ryan gave contestants a controversial quizzing tip on the ITV show tonight (Friday, May 6). The Vixen was up again four new contestants – Annie, Mark, Izzie and James – as they battled it out to take home a big cash sum.

Izzie, a PA at Sheffield Hospital, stepped up to face the Chaser and impressed her as she gave an answer to every question – even those she didn’t know. She managed to rack up £5,000 in the cashbuilder.

Jenny was full of praise, saying: “Hello quizzy Izzie. I don’t say that just because it rhymes. I thought that was a really good example of a cash builder because you gave a go at everything and you gave a relevant guess even when you didn’t know it.

“That showed amazing quiz technique. I think you’ve been practicing.”

But her later advice to Izzie as she decided whether to take the high, low or middle offer didn’t impress some fans of the show. Mark had advised her to stick in the middle: “No one wins unless we all win. Go safe and play for the £5,000.”

Jenny had her own advice though. She told the players: “Heard something I don’t like… ‘Go safe and go for the middle’. It’s never safe.

“It just means that you could make a couple of mistakes and it’s all over. The lower one is the only safe-ish option.”

The advice didn’t impress everyone though. @Michael11861 wrote: “Just heard something I don’t like Jenny: “The lower one is the safer option” #TheChase.”

Izzie took the middle offer – and got caught.
