One of the cornerstones of old industrial Birmingham was the firearms industry. From the huge machine that was Birmingham Small Arms serving the nation in World War 2, down to bespoke pieces crafted in the Gun Quarter, we’ve had a huge hand in the defence of nations and the amusement of sports shooters.
Once, it was a huge employer of Brummies, putting the metalworking and woodworking skills we learned over generations to good use. Today, there’s barely a trace of it left.
