A club is holding a free fireworks event after the original was ruined by ‘technical difficulties. Ticket holders, some of whom forked out up to £25 for a family of four, flocked to Kings Heath Cricket and Sports Club on Sunday (Nov 10) to enjoy a ‘spectacular show’
Unfortunately, things did not go to plan. The fireworks contractor experienced technical difficulties which led to the display starting late and ending quickly.
The club stressed the display was out of their control and apologised. By way of compensation, they will be staging a free show on Friday ( November 15), for those who can make it.

The club said on Facebook: “Our fireworks display contractors, Jubilee Fireworks, very much regret the technical problems that occurred on Sunday evening – which did not allow us to present the display that was originally intended. By way of compensation, we are offering a complimentary public show on Friday 15th November, commencing at 6.15pm, for our loyal supporters to enjoy.
“Unfortunately, we were in the dark as much as everyone, as we do not control the fireworks, Jubilee Fireworks have done the fireworks here at the club for the past 14 years, and normally as you all know our display is the best one around, we passed on all of the information that we were receiving from Jubilee Fireworks on the night to keep you as updated as we possibly could.
“There will be no fairground, it will just be our fireworks display, and bar with hot drinks The gates will be open from 5.30pm, do not worry about wristbands, or proof of purchase just turn up, wrap up warm and enjoy the fantastic display that you all deserved last night. We hope you can make it.”
Tickets cost £10 per person on the door or £8, dropping to £6.50 as part of an early bird offer. Supporters largely applauded the move to make an amends. Others asked if they would be refunded if they could not attend.
Mark Gunn wrote: “Good work, lots of disappointed people around (including yourselves I would imagine). Great to see your doing everything you can to rectify the situation and still provide the top display everybody is used to from you guys!”
Matthew Doyle said: “We will come and support.”
