A star of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing has been forced to pull out of this weekend’s show due to medical reasons. Amanda Abbington and her dancing pro partner Giovanni Pernice will instead be returning the following week.
The news was shared on Strictly: It Takes Two. At the start of the show, presenter Janette Manrara said: “We have some breaking news, unfortunately, due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.”
She continued: “Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week. Amanda, we hope you get well soon my love, sending you all the best wishes!”

Amanda and Giovanni Pernice have done well in the competition so far, WalesOnline reports. The nature of the medical concerns keeping Amanda out of the show on October 21 have not been made public.
But away from the show, she has been supporting her partner Jonathan Goodwin who is suing America’s Got Talent producers after a horror accident that left him paralysed. Jonathan was left in a wheelchair after the incident while performing a stunt that saw him hang upside down 30 feet in the air between two suspended cars and escape from a straitjacket.
But in a terrifying ordeal, the cars were released too early and he was crushed between them as they caught on fire. In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Jonathan named Fremantle Media North America, Syco Entertainment, NBCUniversal, and others as defendants.
Outlet TMZ reports that in the lawsuit he claims NBC and producers kept allegedly making the stunts bigger and bolder ‘to encourage people to tune into AGT’.
Jonathan has reportedly accused the show of failing to follow industry safety standards, alleging that they hired unqualified staff to design and oversee the stunt, which he claims wasn’t tested with a crash dummy. Following the incident, Jonathan retired as a stunt performer.
